A Passion For Knives
Hi, I’m Jason Guthrie, the founder and craftsman behind every piece that bears the Guthrie signature.

I was born and raised in South Africa. I grew up on a shooting range established by my late grandfather in 1968 and later run by my father, Gordon Guthrie. He was a fitter and turner (machinist) and spent many years teaching me engineering intricacies, from rebuilding cars and bikes to gunsmithing, and ultimately forming the backbone of my knife making career.

As an dedicated knife collector, I was captivated by the design and engineering aspect of folding knives — a passion that has grown into a dedication for crafting precision tools that blend functionality with artistry. Every knife I create is more than just a tool, it's a testament to meticulous craftsmanship and a reflection of the beauty found in the details. A pursuit of all custom knife makers.

In July 2020 I made bold decision to move to Norway with my wife and son. Its proven to be the best decision for our family, and after building a new establishment, I couldn't feel more at home in the beautiful wilderness of Norway.

Home Workshop
My workshop is situated in the heart of a small Norwegian town in the southern Norway, Vennesla. I've converted my garage into a creative workspace with grinders, machines and ovens to be self sufficient in the production of my knives.
A step outside
As I look out the workshop door onto unspoilt nature, the occasional deer can be spotted passing through the forest. Many beautiful trails surround the neighborhoods as people are encouraged to go for walks and spend as much time as possible outdoors. I take advantage of this and often go for runs in the forest.

Time with Family
As a proud family man, I love to spend time with my wife, kids and dogs. We enjoy the life style in Norway and have many hobbies to keep our family busy. Some of the activities include hiking, frisbee golfing, mountainbiking, bike packing, trail running, fishing, kayaking, Skiing, camping.
A calling for the water
Since a young boy, I have been out in the nature either hunting with my dad in the harsh African bush, or fishing extensively with my cousin Neal for black bass. This passion has never died. When I first arrived in Norway in 2020 the first thing I did was borrow the hotel's bicycle to go fishing. Three years later, I took my Captain's license, and started working part time as a fishing guide in the summer months. I could literally spend all my days on the Norwegian coastline, cruising between the islands by boat or kayak, fishing and enjoying the water. Here is a link to my fishing charter website:
